Tulipa Siesta
The fringed edge of Siesta catches light in a way that solid-petalled tulips simply cannot. Each rich purple tipped with white petal ends in a delicate crystal-like fringe, like the finest handmade lace laid along the rim of a flower. Flowering in April to June, it brings a quiet sophistication to borders, lifting any planting with its refined detail. In a vase, the fringed petals catch the light differently at different times of day, never quite looking the same twice. As a cut flower it is exceptional — strong stems hold the bloom upright for well over a week, making it as valuable to the vase as it is to the border. Dutch-grown and hand-selected for size and vigour, Siesta arrives ready to perform. Grown in the bulb fields of the Netherlands, where the craft of bulb growing has been perfected over centuries.
